What Is Pass Plus? (And Why Do You Need It?)
Pass Plus is a practical training course designed by the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA). It is specifically created for drivers who have passed their test but want to gain more experience in conditions that aren’t usually covered in standard learner lessons.
The best news? There is no test.
You cannot “fail” Pass Plus. There is no examiner with a clipboard. It is simply a training module consisting of a minimum of 6 hours of driving with one of our registered instructors (Qasim, Sara, or Musa). Once you complete the modules to a safe standard, we sign off your certificate.

The 6 Training Modules: What We Cover
The course is broken down into six specific areas. We can complete these in a single day (an intense 6-hour session) or split them into two 3-hour blocks to fit your schedule.
1. Motorway Driving (The Big One)
This is the #1 reason students book Pass Plus. Standard driving lessons often don’t cover motorways. We will take you onto the M1 (typically between Junction 33 Catcliffe and Junction 36 Barnsley) and the M18. You will learn:
Safe merging speeds from slip roads.
Lane discipline and overtaking safely.
Planning for exits and reading blue signs.
Dealing with “Smart Motorways” and variable speed limits.
2. Rural & Country Roads
Sheffield is surrounded by beautiful but dangerous countryside. Roads like the Snake Pass or the winding lanes around Oughtibridge and Bradfield are notorious for sharp bends and blind summits. We teach you how to predict hazards, deal with slow-moving farm vehicles, and handle bends safely.
3. All-Weather Driving
If you learned to drive in the summer, hitting your first patch of black ice in Crookes or driving through heavy fog on the hills can be terrifying. We discuss (and practice, weather permitting) stopping distances in rain, ice, and snow, and how to use your lights correctly.
4. Night Driving
Driving at night changes your perception of speed and distance. We will take you out after dark to practice handling headlight dazzle from oncoming traffic and spotting pedestrians in poorly lit areas like Ecclesfield or Parson Cross.
5. Dual Carriageways
You might have driven on the Sheffield Parkway during your lessons, but have you done it during peak rush hour? We practice joining, leaving, and overtaking on high-speed dual carriageways to ensure you never feel bullied by faster traffic.
6. Town Driving
We refine your skills in complex urban environments. We will tackle the busy multi-lane roundabouts at University Square and Brook Hill, and navigate the complicated one-way systems of Sheffield City Centre to polish your observation skills.
